What Families Say About Brooklyn Players
|
|
Brooklyn Summer Players is the best summer program I have attended. It is really fun. The people
are very nice. The people who teach acting and singing are very talented, and they make it
fun learning how to put the parts of the show together. I have been in other plays and musicals but
Brooklyn Summer Players seems more intimate. It is great for beginners and also for when you have
gained more experience too. I have learned more about acting, singing and dancing at Brooklyn
Summer Players than I have learned anywhere else. I look forward to returning again this summer!

In Brooklyn Summer Players I learned how to use my vocal chords and improve my acting skills. It's
lots of fun. You make friends with kids of all ages. My sister saw me perform and signed up to go the
next summer. I highly recommend it for anyone who loves music, singing, dancing, acting and
activities like swimming, games and art.

My children look forward to this amazing program all year as do I. It's professional, bonding,
non-competitive atmosphere is the perfect experience for young people both in the summer and during
the year at the Brooklyn Players school-year classes. I can't say enough positive things about
Corinne Goodman and her well chosen staff of caring and talented individuals.
Your children will thrive and grow!

My daughter is far from a natural performer, but she absolutely loved Brooklyn Summer Players
and had a wonderful experience two years running. The shows are first rate -- no frills but pure
experience of the joy of theater -- and Corinne and her staff have a rare gift for challenging each
child and giving him or her a real chance to shine.

As parents, it seems that we're all running around blindly groping for something that's just right
as far as enrichment outside of school. Brooklyn Players school-year classes provide a perfect
balance of child paced development, and high performance expectations. Its not intense pressure,
but Corinne Goodman, the teacher, sets the bar high in a way that kids appreciate.
My daughter is
taking drama, and my son is taking guitar, and both are thriving.

It's very fun because for a whole month you get to know people. You get to have friends and work together.
We don't only work on the show. We also go to the playground. Twice a week we go to the pool, and we do
art and dance.

The experience at Brooklyn Summer Players is one you can't find anywhere else. Not only does
it contain all the components of musical theatre, but it has a great environment to learn in.
It is a close community within the program. Also, not only are there singing, dancing, and acting
lessons, but time at the playground and local swimming pool and art classes. I recommend this
summer program for those who want to spend their time learning many ways to be creative.

My daughter has gone to Brooklyn Summer Players for three years and has announced to the family
that she "will never go to a different summer program". The interaction among children of all
different ages and the hand-picked and specially trained staff has created a warm, family-like
environment which encourages talent to flourish -- dancing, singing, set design, acting and more.
During the school-year my daughter has taken guitar, cooking, theater and musical theater. She's
currently working on a production of The Princess Bride. She never tires of this program, and has
developed and bloomed being part of it. Our family has been enriched and the performances are the
highlight of our year.

Both of our kids are "alumni" of Brooklyn Summer Players and each had a great time through all the many summers
they spent there. It is a wonderful way for theater-mad kids to experience many aspects of a production in
an age-appropriate and nurturing way. It is always awe-inspiring how Corinne and her crew are able to pull
together an enjoyable show in just a little more than three weeks.

Corinne Goodman runs a wonderful theater class and summer program.
She has an amazing capacity
to create genuine and sophisticated theater experiences in a manner that is fun and and casual. But
what has been more important to me as a parent is the emotional safety Corinne creates in her
groups -- they become loving and supportive communities of children and adults of all ages. The kids
learn to share real emotions and grow in unexpected ways. Corinne really tunes into children and pays
attention to their unique emotional and creative needs. It’s a therapeutic experience in that kids
thrive and stretch and take risks. And lastly -- she hires great staff who are committed, talented,
mature and know how to talk to kids in a loving, respectful manner and still have tons of fun.
